Private Sector Experience
Ruben has over thirty five years' experience in working,
consulting and research in financial markets. He has managed
projects for over a hundred clients on long and short-term
assignments throughout the world. From 1980 to 1984 Ruben worked in
the capital markets in New York and London for Salomon Brothers
International.
Public Service
Ruben has been a member of the Conseil Scientifique of the
Autorité des Marchés Financiers in France, and of the Advisory
Panel of Financial Services Experts, established by the Economics
and Monetary Affairs Committee, European Parliament.
Knowledge and Ideas
From 1989 to 1992, Ruben was a Fellow of Nuffield College,
Oxford University, where he specialised in financial economics and
law. He has published widely concerning financial markets, and is
the author of two books entitled "What is an Exchange? The
Automation, Management, and Regulation, of Financial Markets", and
"Running the World's Markets: The Governance of Financial
Infrastructure". Ruben has participated in public fora throughout
the world, and provided official testimony in Canada, the EU, the
UK and the US.
